One area that is susceptible to data entry error is the crack growth rate factor, C used in the Paris Law equation da/dN = C dK m on the Simulation Definitions page. The software allows the user to input this value or select from a lookup table. When user input is used, care should be taken to the units of C that the software specifies. Note that the lookup options include ASME VIII Div. 3 Article KD-4 and API 579/ASME FFS Annex 9F, depending on the simulation method. These values are tabulated in different SI units in their respective documents. These lookup option should be used where possible to avoid input error. Note that the fracture mechanics load cycle reports will show the C values used, so the user can verify these values once the calculation is run.
